Wicker Patio Furniture Cushions
Wicker is a great material for making patio furniture. It is completely natural and the weave gives it an interesting texture but it is not the most comfortable of furniture to sit on especially if you are wearing light summer clothes. So patio cushions are essential for your wicker furniture.
Just because your furniture is wicker does not mean you are limited in your choice of cushions however – in fact you will be spoiled for choice. Wicker lends itself to any number of outdoor cushion materials and colors.
Using wicker furniture you could create an entirely natural theme. With this color scheme pale or dark green, or cream patio cushions would look good. Surround your patio with lots of natural planting with variegated leaves for this look and just the occasional brightly colored accent plant.
Another theme you could use to good effect with your wicker garden furniture and cushions is a tropical theme as wicker is often used in the tropics. For this theme choose a jungle print fabric for your outdoor furniture cushions and surround your patio with exotic plants and bright flowers of all colors. If your climate is too harsh to leave tropical plants outside all year round plant these in large pots and bring them in over winter.

Make wicker outdoor furniture more comfortable with patio cushions
Wicker furniture is also great by a pool side and bright colors also look good in this situation. Patio cushions here are likely to get wet from splashes and wet swimming costumes so be sure to use an outdoor cushion fabric which is waterproof or water-resistant.
For a completely different look choose colored wicker furniture and patio cushions to tone with the color of the furniture. This will give your patio a unique look. I have seen some great black wicker patio furniture teamed with a black and white patterned fabric – this would create a stunning patio of the kind you do not see every day.
When buying wicker patio cushions be sure to buy thick enough cushions for complete comfort – look for something at least 2 inches thick – the thicker they are the more luxurious they will feel and look.
Also if you are buying chair pads for your wicker outdoor furniture, purchase some matching cushions for the backs of the chairs for additional comfort. These can be normal or patio cushions but with normal cushons be sure to bring them indoors when not in use as they will be damaged if it rains.
